WHAT WE DO

Wonder Connection is a one-of-a-kind program that provides pediatric patients with a connection to the natural world via hands-on natural science activities.

Our nature and science based activities and lessons are designed to be hands-on, interactive and patient-centered.

One-to-One Visits for pediatric patients

Visits are tailored to each patients interests and needs. Activities encompass a variety of hands-on and creative projects. Topics include NC Mammal Tracks & Skulls, Microscopes, Volcanoes, and, of course, Slime.  We serve patients five days each week.

Science classes for child and adolescent psychiatric patients

These small group classes are designed to give patients an opportunity to be creative, to interact with each other and nature, and to have fun. Topics include flower arranging, camouflage, animal adaptations, fairy house building and more. We offer three classes each week.

Outpatient Events for families at the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill
Wonder Connection provides fun, free, biweekly events for outpatient families staying at the Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House. The events are located at the Chapel Hill Ronald McDonald House and, weather permitting, include outdoor activities. The focus of these events is on creating opportunities for family outings in an environment that is safe for pediatric patients that allows family members to bond with one another and with other families while creating positive memories and connecting to nature.
